Brianne and Giovanni – Sault Ste Marie Engagement Shoot

I met up with Brianne and Giovanni last week on Squirrel Island which is just east of the Sault. Brianne’s parents have a camp on the island which is only accessible by boat; the one side of the island have camps that are inhabitable and the other side features a number of abandoned buildings. I knew of the abandoned buildings as friend and often times second shooter Bryan visited the island a couple of years back so I suggested making our way toward them. To navigate the island we had access to a 4-wheeler; when asked if I have ever driven one before I informed them that I was only on one one other time before on an engagement shoot and I rolled it; this got me put into the trailer. It was fun exploring the island for the first time as I didn’t know what we would come up on and what we would have available to shoot etc; we found an old abandoned truck in the bush (always fun) and then there were the abandoned buildings. Bri had no intention of going in any of the camps, even more so after I stepped on one of the decks and it collapsed. I eventually found my way inside a camp and Giovanni followed, Bri now had no choice but to join us; and then creepy oven was born! If I’m being honest I thought something was going to jump out of the oven at us when I opened the door, but nothing did so we were safe. They were both great sports about it and humoured me to get the shots.

Thanks for the fun night out guys and I’ll see you next week for the big day!

Some people think the life of a photographer is all glitz and glam and party time but some of the things we go through just to get out there and get the shot is above and beyond the call of duty or maybe it’s just me who gets put in these situations. Anyway below is a shot of me in my “baby trailer” which we started calling it midway through the shoot, I guess if it’s good enough to haul wood it’s good enough to haul Curt. And no I didn’t just jump in the trailer back at camp to pretend that’s how I got around the island, that is how I got around the island.

Rebecca and Brent – Sault Ste Marie Wedding

Rebecca and Brent finished off my weddings for July. They had a super intimate ceremony held in the backyard of Brent’s parent’s house where only the immediate family attended. The reception was then held in Rebecca’s parent’s backyard where more family and friends were invited but it was still a nice small size. With everything being held outside the rain that was forecast was threatening to put a damper on the day but it held it off to let everything move forward as planned. Rebecca and Brent’s sisters acted as their ad-hoc bridal party with their significant others filling in as the groomsmen. For the formal shots we traveled up to Hiawatha and then Rebecca, Brent and myself ventured off on our own for some more shots of just them.

It was an awesome day supported by two awesome families, thanks for the day guys!

Michela and Aaron – Tuscany Wedding

Michela and Aaron – thanks for the adventure.

Seriously, I can’t even put into words what this complete day (and the days leading up to it) was. You guys were simply awesome. The wedding ceremony took place in the olive garden of Borgo Iesolana. For our bridal party pictures we just drove the highway to what we believe was an abandoned church. After that Michela, Aaron, Jes and myself drove a bit further down the highway and got some of their couple shots in a small Italian village.

Michela had the day planned perfectly and added all of these small handmade touches that made the details of it amazing. The girls actually drove down the road the morning of the wedding, pulled the car over to the side, ran into a field, picked wild flowers and then made their bouquets with them. Her sisters then ended up doing everyone’s hair and makeup – crazy.

I had a hard time breaking this down to this number of shots – there are definitely a lot more that help tell the story of the day but these ones helped tell different chapters.

Thank you again for the great day and hopefully when you’re back in the Sault we can catch up.
