This past Saturday I got to spend the day enjoying Marissa and Adam’s awesome wedding. Below you get to have a glimpse at the sneak peek. The morning started off with rain and overcast but the sun came out before noon and we couldn’t have asked for anything better. I began the morning bouncing between Marissa’s parents’ house and the salon where the other girls were getting ready. The girls definitely kept me in check at the salon and made sure I knew all six of their names before leaving. Marissa’s next door neighbour spent the morning cleaning up his beautiful yard so that we could use it for some pre-ceremony pictures.

The wedding ceremony and reception were held at the Water Tower Inn in the Sault’s north end. The Inn provides a great small ceremony location in the corridor just outside the main hall. After the ceremony we stayed close in the area and used some garages and older buildings for some fun formal shots.

Marissa and Adam were willing to allow me to steal them away for some time during their reception for shots of them together. We started off just outside in the courtyard tucked away in a little corner.

And we even made it up to their suite and if I’m being honest I love this shot. Marissa worked this shot with just the right amount of attitude.

To end off I’ll give you a shot of the hugely awesome calla lily bouquet designed by Trevor Feilder from Flowers with Flair – Trevor was also responsible for the complete design and decoration of the hall which was amazing. He even helped out with the setup of this shot.

This past Sunday I shot Jess and Mike’s engagement shoot. We were originally schedule to do it on Saturday but Sault Ste. Marie weather being what it is we had a drop in temperature and snow fall. That is correct, we had snow in the middle of May. Sunday turned out to be a better day weather wise in that there was no snow but we did battle with approximately 50 km/h wind gusts.

We hit up some common local attractions including the Essar Center and the Court House as well as some back alley ways and finished the shoot off out at Hiawatha Highlands. Hiawatha is a great nature preserve located in the northern part of the city and added a great contrast to the urban feel at the start of the shoot.

This Saturday Margaret and John upped the adventure factor for engagement shoots and have set the bar quite high for other couples to match. We went out to a large parcel of land that they own just north of Echo Bay by Echo Lake. To get from location to location we used 4-wheelers which was my first time ever on one and driving one. I may or may not have rolled my 4-wheeler but that is between me, the tree and the scrape on my knee (I like to rhyme). Margaret and John – I hope the machine is okay!

The landscape in this small area was quite impressive from small lakes and rivers, to large rock formations and the great Canadian forest. When we originally planned the shoot we were hoping for a lot of mudding and getting muddy shots near the end of our shoot. Unfortunately the weather hasn’t quite cooperated here and we’ve had nice sunny days for the past couple of weeks so there was no mud for the mudding.
