Today is Curtmas (aka my birthday) and for the big Curtmas Eve celebration held last night Jeannette from Jeannette’s Custom Cakes made me an AMAZING Lambeau Field cake.
The simple back story behind the cake is that I am a big Packers fan. I’m on their giant wait list for season tickets (currently #70230), I’ve been to Lambeau 5 consecutive years and I even proposed to Jes at Lambeau field (yes, she said yes and no, it wasn’t on the scoreboard). I’ve been asking Jeannette even before she started the custom cake business to make me a Lambeau cake; every time the topic of cake would come up I would always say something like “you know what would really be awesome, Lambeau Field” and she’d yell at me. Then a couple of months ago out of nowhere she said “Curt, I’m going to make you Lambeau Field for your birthday” and BOOM Lambeau Freaking Field in cake form.
My original idea was completely insane (what hardcore fan’s isn’t) and I had the legend players on one side of the field with the current players on the other and a “certain player” out in the parking lot and all the details of every little thing nailed down. Then I realized that I would be asking for a 1/32 scale model of Lambeau Field to get all that in. In the end Jeannette hammered out this behemoth (it’s on a 2′ by 3′ board) in 18 hours of work time. That’s freaking insane! Everything you see on the cake is also edible (except for the poles holding the light stands). The picture of me on the video screen is a real shot of me doing the Lambeau Leap at Lambeau a few years ago.
And in even more good news the Packers are on their way to the Super Bowl! They beat the Bears on Sunday to win the NFC Conference and make it to the big game on February 6th. I don’t know how I would have reacted if they lost on Sunday but one possibility had me destroying the cake after taking these pictures of it.
i really love the last picture!

Wow, that is impressive! I would not have had the patience to do this cake. I get frustrated just frosting cupcakes for crying out loud! Nice job Jeannette!
Awesome Cake Curt..What a nice birthday gift..
Holy Glory Days! What a cake. Vince Lombardi, Jimmy Kiick, Jimmy Taylor, and an guy by the name of Paul Hornung would have gotten a real ‘kick’ out of this cake. (If you think I thought of this myself,,,you’re right Anthony and Curt). lol……
We think a picture of this should be sent to ‘THE PACK”,,,,,,to give them inspiration to win the Superbowl – it has been a while, given the names I just threw at you.
Happy Birthday Curt – and Good Job Jeannette!
Holy Crap. That is UNbelievable. I believe you owe her your first born child. Wild. Fantastic job, Jeanette.
