Brittany and Nick – Engagement Shoot

Flashing back to about three weeks ago I spent the evening with Brittany and Nick to rock out their engagement shoot. We started out on their lot out by Sunnyside Beach just to the west of Sault Ste Marie, made our way into town to some abandoned buildings which will soon be torn down, hit up the boardwalk and the area around the Sault Ste. Marie Civic Centre. And to top all of that off we had a Roush Mustang at our disposal to assist us when we needed it. Near the end of the shoot after the sun went down it started getting chilly out. I let Brittany borrow my hoodie in between setting shots up and didn’t realize at one point that my hoodie started making it into the shots. So also featured below is a guest starring appearance by “Curt’s red hoodie”.

Thanks for the great night Brittany and Nick, I had an awesome time and remember “it’s just a butterfly, it’s just a butterfly”.

My Boys in Bandannas

Last week the boys got to make another trip to the groomer’s for the monthly nail clipping and other necessary things groomers do to them that we simply won’t and you really don’t want me posting it here. We take them to Linda’s Pet Grooming and Linda just loves them which is a great connection for your groomer to have with your dogs. Every time they go she gives them a new bandanna to come home with and I try to keep them on them until Jes gets to see them wearing them as they do look good with them on. However Harvey fights with his the second he comes in the door, Fozzie’s becomes a tug of war toy (while still connected to his neck) and Domino is usually good with his – he made it through the weekend with his on.

This time I was able to grab some pictures and putting them up to quench your thirst while I’m working away on a lot of shoots that you will be seeing very shortly.

Harvey looking innocent – he was named after Harvey Dent and the dual personality cannot match him more accurately. One minute he’ll be barking, growling and trying to bite me then the next he’ll snuggle on to my chest to go to sleep:

Fozzie being his normal bashful self – he’s not one for having his picture taken:

Domino asleep and he’s in the exact same position right now. He has a thing with sleeping on pillows.

Nat and Matt – Sault Ste Marie Wedding

Rain rain and more rain; it seems to be the theme of my Saturday weddings this year. For this Saturday it rained and when the plan was for an awesome outdoor wedding at the Sault Ste. Marie Canal plans were changed and new plans made on the fly. Nat and Matt took everything in stride however and didn’t let the rain bother them. The entire wedding now took place at the Water Tower Inn where I’ve shot a number of times this year already. Nat and Matt’s wedding was awesomely themed as “old Hollywood” featuring fedoras for the guys and a red carpet for the girls to walk down. We ended up walking around and using a lot of the hotel for the fun bridal party and bride and groom shots. Being stuck indoors always challenges you to find locations that people see everyday and trying to make them work the best for your couple – I think we pulled it off and the fact Nat and Matt were up for anything definitely helped that out.

Thanks for letting me be part of your big day! And for those keeping track at home Nat and Matt were the couple to push me over the edge and get me into shooting wedding photography. So if you like what you see me doing these are the guys you need to thank (along with Jeannette and Tony).

Happy Birthday Jes

Today is Jes’ birthday. Her present from me is so full of awesome that I had to wrap it in Christmas paper. I have this set as a timed post so it should go live while I’m sleeping. I’m not sure if Jes is waiting until midnight to open her present or if she’ll do it tomorrow but either way I’ll get some pics up of it when she sees it.

I’d like to think she had a good year – we got to take one crazy trip to Egypt, we added a new addition to our family in the form of hyper Harvey, she has helped me launch and successfully run this photo business and we got married. To top it off we’re heading to Green Bay on Sunday for their home opener against the Chicago Bears. For those of you keeping track at home – I proposed at Lambeau Field and she didn’t believe me thinking I was just “excited about the game”.

Here are some shots from the year. The first is from our engagement shoot in Las Vegas (if you’ve been following the site you’ve seen it before) and the next two are outtakes from our wedding invites.

And I’m going to end with two shots from our wedding shot by the extremely awesome Mark Ridout. The wedding day was great and having Mark there (along with Chantal) to help capture it made it even better!

A small story leading into the next image. We borrowed a farm about five minutes away from our location (thanks to Mark the owner of the farm). Mark (the photographer) suggested that it would be awesome if Jes somehow got to the top of all of the hay bales in the barn. Mark (the farmer) went to grab a ladder for her to climb but in the mean time Jes was bouncing off a tractor, climbing onto the first level of hay and then running and jumping up to the second level. All of this to get the shot below (aftermath to this shot and story was me getting to punt the bouquet into the lake!).

EDIT: She didn’t open her present last night. So pics will be delayed on that.
